Exploration conducted primarily for base metals, over an area extending for 5-50 km north of Port Lincoln, has consisted of soil sampling on a 1/4 mile grid spacing along a line 5000 feet west of the Butler Tanks magnetic trend, check geological mapping of Flinders Group outcrops in the Port Neill 1-mile mapsheet area, and the drilling at Sunny Brae prospect of one inclined diamond hole for 102.65 m, in September 1972. The geochemical sampling did not locate any lead-zinc anomalism which is comparable to that found in an inferred equivalent stratigraphic position nearby, in Pechiney's adjoining Cleve area tenement. The drillhole penetrated gneissic bedrock mainly comprising pyrrhotite and pyrite- rich (>10% sulphides) amphibolite, but no significant base metal mineralisation was detected in the drill core.
