Exploration for possible economic stratiform, Broken Hill type base metal deposits hosted within Willyama Complex metasediments in the Bimbowrie Hill - Ameroo Hill area has consisted of a structural interpretation of aerial photos and ERTS imagery, reconnaissance (1:48,000 scale) and detailed (1:5000 and 1:500 scale) prospect geological mapping, extensive rock chip (516 sites), soil (1455 sites) and stream sediment (453 sites) geochemical sampling, and the conduct of trial ground magnetic and fixed loop VHEM surveys, plus prospect grid-based IP profiling (23.8 line km), followed by limited shallow RAB drilling of geochemical/IP anomalies at the Ameroo Hill prospect (4 holes totalling 302 m). The drillholes encountered pervasive disseminated pyritic mineralisation, constituting up to 50% pyrite, within predominantly calc-silicate schists, thus explaining the IP responses. Maximum assays returned were 1.5% Pb in hole ORD1 and 1.3% Cu in hole ORD2 (with up to 30 ppm Mo also being recorded in samples from these holes that were later assayed by the SA Department of Mines). INCO made a study of existing exploration and regional geological data, and thought it could recognise base metal potential in the following stratigraphic units within the Willyama Complex: 1). banded iron formation with elevated base metal and phosphate contents; 2). banded iron formation associated with stratiform barite; 3). pyritic cherts and quartzites; and 4). calcareous metasediments containing disseminated copper.

Notes: Technical reports relating to EL 237 are missing from this dataset (except for the drillhole geological/geochemical logs), and it appears that none may have been submitted. The actual drilling data was acquired by INCO during the statutory 30-day option period allowed for the filing of any Mineral Claim applications, following the expiry and lapse of an Exploration Licence (i.e. EL 102). Geographic Locality: Bimbowrie Hill;Tietz Dam;Yerka Hill;Ameroo Hill;Gun Creek;MacDonald Hill Fault Doc No: Env 02364 Drillhole: ORD1 - ORD4
