Following the previous conduct of separate reconnaissance and detailed stream sediment sampling programmes, two zinc-anomalous areas were defined. One of these, located in the nose of the Sliding Rock Syncline, was interpreted as arising from iron oxide scavenging, and so was dismissed as being insignificant. The other, however, was geologically interesting besides being truly base metal anomalous. But subsequent detailed investigations including 1:1200 scale geological mapping have now suggested that the host Parara Limestone facies is unsuitable for developing massive Beltana - type zinc mineralisation, and so the decision has been made to surrender the licence.
