Reconnaissance and infill low-density stream sediment sampling and bulk soil sampling of Adelaidean diapiric outcrop on the eastern side of SML 429 near the Burr River sought to reveal additional base metal mineralisation in the vicinity of small historic copper workings. Statistical analysis of sample assay results gave some zonation of higher Pb and Zn values, but was inconclusive for Cu, with spot highs indicative of detrital enrichment coming from the old mine spoils. Follow-up rock chip sampling of the Balcanoona Formation near stream sediment zinc and lead anomalies showed elevated metal values with an apparent sedimentary control, but these were still too low to be of economic interest.
