Exploration for possible Precambrian sediment-hosted base metal deposits within an area lying just west and south of Lake Hart has comprised a photogeological study, geological mapping at 1:87,000 scale, a gravity survey along a single 30 km traverse, and stratigraphic diamond drilling (2 vertical holes totalling 950.35 m). Both of the drillholes cored predominantly through, and ended in, Mid-Late Proterozoic Pandurra Formation. Drill core sample assays returned low base metal values. The gravity profile showed a possible fault which separates an uplifted western basement block carrying Gawler Range Volcanics from the drilled eastern block on which a thick Pandurra and younger sedimentary section is still preserved above the GRV sequence.
