Known, previously worked anomalous surface copper, lead, zinc and gold occurrences within gossanous basal Burra Group metasediments located on the flanks of the overturned Ulooloo Anticline, have been investigated with 1:2500 scale geological mapping, much stream sediment, soil and rock chip sampling, related petrographic studies of the mineralisation and its host rocks, and bedrock geochemistry auger drill sampling plus detailed IP and ground magnetic traversing across four gridded prospect areas. The geophysical results have proved difficult to interpret, and no firm drilling targets have yet been established. However, maximum Cu, Pb and Zn assay values of the order of 5000-7000 ppm returned from strongly disrupted, hydrothermally altered and heavily ferruginised near-surface argillaceous metasediments are of continuing interest to the licensee, as indicators of possible stratabound primary base metal sulphide orebodies existing at depth.
