Ongoing exploration for economic base and precious metals in the Blue mine area at the eastern end of the Umberatana Syncline has comprised detailed, 1:5000 scale prospect mapping, preparation of a preliminary new tectonic and structural analysis interpretation for the Adelaidean cover rocks exposed in the licence area, grid-based soil sampling (443 samples assayed) at the Blue mine, Wheal Turner and Wild Dog Creek prospects, and scout percussion drilling of selected targets (11 holes for a total penetration of 1433 m). A best mineralised intercept of 0.43% Cu over the depth interval 72-81 m in hole PDH 1, at the top of a broad, 100 m thick zone containing on average about 0.1% Cu, was obtained from the Wywyana Formation, in the form of chalcopyrite hosted by a calcite-magnetite rich actinolitic marble - metadolomite unit. Similar but narrower copper intercepts were made in two nearby drillholes, and it is thought that the mineralised body, contained in a pyritic envelope, plunges steeply NE parallel to the axis of the first, isoclinal phase of regional folding.
