Renewed base metal exploration over part of the historic Yudnamutana Mining Field has targeted base metal anomalies previously found by Australian Selection in the Blue mine area. An area of about 80 square miles was assessed by reconnaissance stream sediment sampling (1127 samples), and grid-based infill stream sediment and soil sampling (>2000 samples) was then undertaken at anomalous locations within the Adelaidean metasedimentary cover, which contains numerous shallow past workings. A 490 station ground radioactivity survey was also performed over the Blue mine grid, but no significant readings were obtained. Detailed geological mapping at 1:2400 and 1:4800 scales was done over localities with surface-mineralised strata which lie between the Blue mine and Wheal Turner.
