Geochemical and geophysical surveys of the Blue mine - Wheal Turner area, plus semi-detailed geological and structural mapping in the Wild Dog Creek area, identified the Wortupa Quartzite and surrounding strata as the main hosts of low grade secondary copper mineralisation evident in outcrop and old mine workings. Limited inclined diamond drilling of geochemical and associated IP anomalies (8 holes, total 4401 feet) failed to find economic copper ore underlying gossans and pegmatitic skarn associated with the Wortupa - Wooltana Volcanics contact zone. Therefore the conclusion has now been reached that dispersed, initial sedimentary copper mineralisation has been locally reconcentrated by host bed folding, small-scale faulting and the general effects of thermal metamorphism, but not into sufficient quantities to be of further interest.
