Stratiform copper sulphides, hosted within the basal Tapley Hill Formation, and extensions of known kimberlite bodies were targeted in this program. Reconnaissance and closer (down to 1 km x 1 km) spaced diamond and percussion drilling (28 and 83 holes respectively, totalling 2272 m of coring and 7657 m of open hole) indicated the presence of modest but regionally widespread concentrations of copper, lead and lesser zinc mineralisation, and the base metal potential of the area is considered to be high, with similarities to the Zambian Copperbelt geological setting and with zoning of metal mineralogy at depth. Aeromagnetic anomaly mapping and source interpretation followed by ground magnetic surveys and downhole bulk sampling were successful in delineating extensions to known kimberlite bodies, now seen as probably of sill-like form, but altered by deep weathering and laterisation. Groundwater monitoring and sampling were carried out in all drillholes to provide hydrogeological data about standing water levels, well yield and groundwater salinity.
