Work included 1:83,000 scale regional photogeological mapping, detailed 1:2000 scale geological mapping of the Jagged Rocks davidite prospect, known to contain up to 0.5% U3O8, plus the acquisition and interpretation of a 193 line km, 150 m line-spaced helicopter-borne spectrometric survey, and ground-based checking of three selected radiometric anomalies. No visible mineralisation was found at the anomaly locations, but geochemically anomalous rock samples were obtained, although these were deemed of insufficient quality to warrant follow-up (maxima 200 ppm U3O8 and 23 ppm ThO2). The airborne survey failed to detect the two known davidite occurrences at Jagged Rocks, but the licensee from its ground investigations is confident that there are no outcropping extensions to this mineralisation, on either the eastern or western sides. An unreported re-assessment made by Esso of previous SADM and Electrolytic Zinc Corp. data on the grade and extent of the Jagged Rocks mineralisation concluded that treated alone it would not be worth mining.
