In a renewed search for possible economic scheelite deposits in the Sanderston area, which is located ~15 km south-east of the Barossa Valley, the sites of some previously reported tungsten metal geochemical anomalies and minor detrital scheelite occurrences found within the local drainage system were further investigated. As a result of preliminary stream sediment sampling work, several of the previous finds were confirmed, whilst encouraging additional small secondary scheelite occurrences were noted. They appeared to derive from narrow quartz veinlets that are sparsely developed in a variety of rock types due to weak epithermal alteration. However, follow-up stream sediment sampling, geological traversing and night-time ultraviolet lamp illumination of outcrops proved disappointing. A perceived lack of skarn development in the target limestone facies rocks led to the decision to cease exploration.
