Exploration for possible stratiform or hydrothermal/epithermal base and precious metals within Adelaidean metasedimentary cover and Middle Proterozoic crystalline basement in the Cultana area, 35 km south-southwest of Port Augusta, has consisted of geological mapping plus exploratory percussion (3 holes, total 372 m) and diamond (1 hole, 242 m) drilling. DDH SAC1 met with minor chalcopyrite mineralisation, grading to 1.05% Cu, over a 29 m thick interval below 201 m depth, in the informally named dolomitic 'Lincoln Member' at the base of the Tapley Hill Formation. Traces of bornite and chalcopyrite were also seen at the top of the underlying Roopena Volcanics, in which unit the drillhole ended. Higher priority drilling programmes being conducted by Seltrust in its adjacent exploration licences at Uro Bluff and Tregolana meant that some intended additional stratigraphic/exploratory drilling in EL 212 was not performed before the licence term came up for renewal.
