Nine airborne radiometric anomalies associated with poorly exposed basement rocks bordering small lakes in a Tertiary palaeodrainage feature emanating from the southern margin of the Gawler Ranges outcrop were investigated for their basement-hosted uranium and base metal potential, since the area was apparently unexplored to date. Geological mapping and sampling of the anomalies indicated that the radioactivity is related only to the lake sediments, and so will have a limited extent and undoubted near-surface origin. A maximum uranium assay value of 60 ppm U is associated with ironstones in Anomaly #2.
