As part of BP's regional base metal prospectivity evaluation of the southern Stuart Shelf, seeking areas with untested potential for hosting possible stratiform base metal deposits within a probable concealed Early Proterozoic sedimentary basin embayment, 3 additional percussion stratigraphic/exploratory holes totalling 472 m were drilled south-east of Lake Macfarlane and were geophysically logged, to find the distribution of the preserved erosional top surface of the Pandurra Formation. The drilling disclosed a sharp increase in thickness of the 'Cattle Grid Formation' and Tapley Hill Formation across the eastern part of the licence area. No significant mineralisation was noted in the drillholes. The depth to pre-Pandurra Formation basement over all but the western side of the licence is now considered to be in excess of 500 m.
