Field mapping of basement lithologies adjacent to, and of fluvial and marine sediments on the north-western margin of, the Eromanga Basin in the Abminga - Mount Irwin area, followed by a scout traverse of 18 stratigraphic core drillholes (total 1600 m) to establish the redox state and lithofacies of target Mesozoic formations, produced results suggesting that this was an environment unfavourable for the accumulation of sedimentary uranium.
