The target was possible diamonds, with base metals and coal as secondary interests. Airborne magnetic/radiometric surveys flown in 1979 and 1980 identified several magnetic anomalies which were interpreted as possibly due to kimberlites. Ground magnetic survey follow-up defined targets at five anomalies, which were tested by vertical open hole rotary percussion drilling of 24 holes for 744.5 m, with short bottomhole cores being cut in holes P26 and P180. Two of the magnetic anomalies were found to be caused by buried mafic intrusions. No significant bedrock assay results were recorded from sampling of the drill cores. Stream sediment and gravel bulk sampling (17 x 20 kg samples) plus associated soil fraction geochemical sampling both carried out at the end of 1980, through the post-relinquishment then retained northern part of the licence, yielded scant kimberlite indicator minerals (viz. 1 chrome diopside grain) and no trace metal geochemical anomalies.
