The East Painter uranium deposits were extensively explored by the South Australian Department of Mines during the period 1946 to 1950. Work accomplished comprised driving of five edits and drilling thirty four surface and underground diamond drill holes. This report gives an account of the geology of the main uraniferous breccia lode, resulting both from regional geological mapping over the Mount Painter field, and detailed mapping, radiometric testing and sampling of the development openings. A large uraniferous lode was proved within the main breccia mass, but the grade of uranium mineralisation was found to be too low for commercial exploitation to be attempted.
