In January, 1951, a special mining lease of approximately 5,000 acres in the hundred of Davenport was granted to J. Saeck. This lease was later converted into ten miscellaneous salt leases, having a total area of 5,826 acres. Adjoining these leases to the south is a special mining lease of approximately 11,200 acres in the hundreds of Davenport and Winninowie, which was granted to J. Saeck during May, 1952. These leases are still held by Mr. Saeck but by arrangement they are being tested and developed by Solar Salt Ltd.
