Samples from sands, clays and limestones on the southern eastern corner of Lake Eyre were found to contain remains of fresh or brackish water microscopic plants and animals which inhabit inland and coastal lagoons, together with species of brackish water foraminifera. Deposition probably took place during Pleistocene high sea levels.
