Material collected during a reconnaissance survey of the coastal portion of the Eucla Basin by Frome Broken Hill Company Limited belonged to 6 distinct formations: surface kunkar; Pleistocene to Recent acolianites; Pleistocene marine sandy limestones; dense crystalline limestone of Lower Miocene age extending over and giving form to the Nullarbor Plains, of the same age but different facies from other Lower Miocene formations in South Australia; a bryozoal calcarenite left as remnants only, and resembling beds of Oligocene age at Mannum South Australia; and a chalky calcarenite of Eocene age to be correlated with limestones of similar age at Maslin Bay and Kingscote. No material from underlying sediments was available and an attempt has been made to correlate the coastal section with that at Pidinga in the north eastern portion of the Basin.
