A ground magnetometer survey has been made of a number of magnetic anomalies found by an aeromagnetic survey of the northern portion of Yorke Peninsula. This region, some seventy miles to the west of north from Adelaide is of interest since in this area the valuable copper deposits of the Wallaroo and Moonta mining district were situated. The mines were found in I860 and the total production of the field exceeded £20 million. Large scale mining operations ceased in 1923 owing to a combination of low grade ore and low prices. Since then continued and varied efforts have been made to find any extension or recurrence of the known lodes, unfortunately without success.
