Following the request from the Commissioner of Railways for information regarding a possible road metal deposit (quartzite) in Section 115 Hundred Hawker, contained below, an inspection was made of this deposit and adjacent areas during the period 10 to 12 September 1954. The deposit nominated was mapped and an approximate estimate made of quantities available. At the same time a rough sketch was made of a granite gneiss deposit occurring in an adjoining Section (114W), and some observations carried out on a marble deposit exposed on the boundary between Sections 115 and 114W. The results of these surveys are outlined.
