In recent years, following the discovery by the C.S.I.R.O. that pastures could be established on sandy coastal areas by the application of trace elements with superphosphate, large tracks of Mallee scrub country have been cleared and sown down. Hand-in-hand with this development has gone the search for supplies of underground water for stock and domestic purposes. Many new wells and bores have now been put down, this report being an attempt to bring together the information thus gained.
