A report on the potentialities of a limestone deposit on Section 499, Hundred Noarlunga was requested by the Highways and Local Government Department. A reconnaissance survey, accompanied by Mr. A. Cooke (Highways and Local Government Department), revealed numerous outcrops of good quality limestone in Sections 499 and 490. Mr. Cooke pointed out an area in Section 499 which the Highways and Local Government Department consider suitable for access and quarrying operations. A limestone deposit is required to produce aggregate for asphalt road surfacing in this district. A topographical map of the proposed quarry site, as indicated by Mr. Cooke, was made by P. F. Saunders (Surveyor) and the geological structure investigated by the writer.
