Abstract Notes on the initial running of the plant of Nairne Pyrites Limited at Brukunga S.A. are given. Four weeks were spent by the writer with Nairne Pyrites Limited to observe the starting up of the treatment plant and to assist generally in the operation of the plant and in the training of operators. The plant was designed to treat 1000 tons of ore per day by flotation for the production of 200 tons of pyritic concentrate for sulphuric acid manufacture. The average grade of the ore is about 100 percent sulphur, from which it is expected that a concentrate assaying 45 percent sulphur can be produced with a recovery of 90 percent.
