Foundation testing of site for Grosvenor Hotel, Adelaide, extension southward by hand and machine auger and percussion boring shows below proposed basement level approximately 6 feet of clay overlying limestone which is probably about 8 feet thick, resting on 10-12 feet of softer limestone. Nearby excavations suggest upper surface may be fissured and hardness and thickness variable. Recording of excavations is desirable. A drainage horizon at 68 feet was found.
