During construction of the green mill at Mount Gambier Government sawmill, cavities were found in excavations for a gangsaw in the Gambier Limestone. Diamond drilling showed the main cavity to be funnel-shaped and not a cavern top, but revealed minor cavities and much porous and nodular rock. Grouting of the main cavity zone has since been carried out successfully by Woods & Forests Department.
