Outcropping sediments in the area covered by the Milang Military Sheet include Permian cross-bedded fluvioglacial sands and silts, mid-tertiary calcareous sandstones and limestones transgressive on Kanmantoo rocks in the Strathalbyn area, and Lower Miocene gritty limestone, in the upper reaches of the Hindmarsh River south of Mount Jagged.
