Three test bores revealed alluvial clayey silts, silty clays and clays with minor sand, grit and gravel. The water table was established at 42 feet below the surface, the water being potable and non-injurious to concrete. An avenue of large eucalypts has had a marked local effect on the soil water status, hence on the test results. Bearing capacity is likely to be somewhat variable over the area, but should be adequate for the structures proposed. However, caution and a conservative approach are urged.
