The following combined observations were made during a brief visit of inspection to the principal iron ore occurrences in Western Australia by the South Australian Director of Mines, Mr T.A. Barnes, Senior Geologist, Mr G.F. Whitten, and Mining Engineer Mr C.M. Willington, from April 15th to 27th, 1958. Time for inspection at each deposit was of necessity very limited due to the vast distance travelled between each deposit. In all, 7,800 miles were travelled from the time of departure from Adelaide on April 14th until the party's return on April 29th.
