Parachilna Township is at present supplied with water sourced from a spring in Parachilna Gorge, 10 miles east of the township. The groundwater is collected in a small basin and piped to Parachilna by gravity flow. In dry seasons, water has to be pumped into the basin. The headworks in the Gorge are subject to damage by flooding, and the whole scheme requires costly maintenance. The Engineering and Water Supply Department consequently are seeking an underground water supply in the vicinity of the township. An inspection of the area was made on 21/5/1958.
