An elevated 30,000 gallon tank is planned for a proposed prison farm at Cadell. The site is on an old sand dune and below a depth of 5 feet the sands are well compacted. It is recommended that the tank foundation be seated 5 feet below the surface, where the maximum safe bearing capacity for a circular footing is estimated to be in excess of 2 tons per square foot.
