Siliceous ironstone in Sec. 201, 3 miles west of Yongala, occurs as scattered lenses within sandy shale on the lower slopes of a hill and as a capping at the top. The scattered and irregular nature of the outcrops allows only the rough estimate of near-surface reserves of about 5,000 – 10,000 cubic yards. A possible origin is by chemical concentration related to an old land surface. On a nearby stone reserve, at more than 250,000 cubic yards; diamond drilling is recommended. Country rocks belong to the Sturtian Series of the Proterozoic Adelaide System.
