The recovery of a saleable potassium product from potassium enriched salts obtained by evaporation of salt bitterns was investigated. Four methods of treatment, namely, flotation, leaching, ion exchange and hydrolysis of the magnesium salts were attempted. It is most unlikely that any of these methods could be used to produce potassium salts at a price to compete with that of imported material. A review of the results obtained during the salt investigations indicates that further work is not warranted at present.
