A reconnaissance of the Tumby Bay - Cummins area has revealed that only three of the deposits inspected, are suitable as potential road metal. The quartz reef, Section 82, Hundred Koppio, 1½ miles west of Yallunda Flat, has reserves of suitable stone well in excess of 40,000 cubic yards. At least 100,000 cubic yards of ferruginous quartzite are available from the Ironstone ridge, Section 97, Hundred Hutchison, 7 miles west of Tumby Bay. More than half a million cubic yards of quartzite can be obtained from the old gravel deposit in Section 185, Hundred Koppio.
