Examination of gypsum material from the Streaky Bay area indicated that a gypsum concentrate assaying 95.1 per cent CaS04.2H20 could be obtained by simple washing and classification. Recovery at this grade was 82.2 per cent. Cyclone separation of the classifier overflow gave a product assaying 89.9 per cent CaS04.2H20 representing a recovery of a further 15.1 per cent of the gypsum present in the feed. Combination of these two gypsum concentrates produced a final product containing 94.2 per cent Ca S04.2H20 representing a recovery of 97.3 per cent of the gypsum. The salt content of this material would be approximately 0.08 per cent NaCl. Calcination tests carried out on the composite sample produced a plaster of good colour.
