The North Maslin sand of Miocene age forms the base of the coastal Tertiary section of the Willunga Basin about 26 miles south of Adelaide. This sand is exposed in the Maslin Bay quarry where it is suitable for concrete fine aggregate. Recently it has been proved one mile inland at Albert’s sand pits. Further occurrences of the North Maslin Sand may possibly occur irregularly and to a limited extent near the northern edge of the Basin. Seven areas in this region have been chosen for testing for North Maslin or other sand suitable for concrete fine aggregate.
