A study of air photographs, bore-hole records and previous reports covering the Coober Pedy and Lake Eyre 8 mile sheets indicates the general thinness and flat lying nature of the Mesozoic sedimentary rocks to the west and southwest. Some small anticlinal structures around Lake Conway and the Coorie Apps bore appear to be related to faults, which parallel the very prominent North West to north North West regional lineation. Mesozoic rocks become thicker and dip at higher angels in the central northern part of the area and in the Lake Eyre region. Permian rocks are not known in the latter region but occur in glacially deepened troughs to the west and southwest of the Peake and Denison ranges. Up warping and erosion of the Permian appears to have occurred before the Cretaceous.
