Lead and copper mineralisation occurs in rocks of Cambrian age in the Ediacara Mineral Field. Rich pockets of ore minerals of limited extent occur in the Transition beds and in the overlying carbonates, associated with breccias or turbidites. Departmental diamond drilling completed to date has located two areas requiring further test drilling. Prospecting has indicated other areas in the field that will require exploratory drilling. A drilling programme is outlined to test the ore intersections made in the first phase of drilling and then to test other favourable areas. Altogether, a further 14 holes have been recommended, totalling 2700 feet of drilling. A 1:6000 scale preliminary geological map of the Ediacara Mineral Field is appended.
