Croydon Bore no. 2 was drilled during 1892-93 to a total depth of 2296 feet, and penetrated a sedimentary sequence of Tertiary rocks to 2035 feet before bottoming in sediments believed to be Permian glacigenes. Pleistocene to Recent sandy clays and gravels were present to 395 feet, underlain by marine very fossiliferous beds of the Dry Creek Sands to about 535 feet. These beds are Pliocene in age, and continue downwards as slightly fossiliferous silts to the contact with the underlying Oligo-Miocene limestones of the Port Willunga Beds at 606 feet. Blanche Point Marl equivalents of Upper Eocene to Lower Oligocene age were intersected between 1319 feet, and 1905 feet, when the bore passed into Eocene sediments of the North Maslin Sands. This Tertiary sequence is underlain by sandy and gravelly clays, which are believed to be Permian glacigenes, from 2035 feet to the bottom of the bore.
