Recent gravels at Porter Lagoon and two dolomite beds of Proterozoic age are suggested as potential sources of road metal in the Farrell Flat area. If the dolomite does not break down to suitable size aggregate, the adjacent slates may prove to be suitable. The thin-bedded blue dolomite horizon quarried north of Booborowie was not detected south east of the township. However several of the more promising argillaceous beds are indicated. The usefulness of each rock type can only be determined by trial bulldozer cuts.
