In a search for rock suitable for road rubble for the District Council of Clare, ten promising locations have been selected on the Undalya Quartzite, Watervale Sandstone and Leasingham Quartzite. These Torresian formations are steeply dipping and strike approximately north south through Clare and Penworthen. There is a lack of such promising deposits in the eastern parts of the Hundres of Milne and Clare, where a few locations on sandstones associated with Sturtian tillite have been suggested. The Council is obtaining some of its good rubble from Willouran phyllite and dolomite and Torresian Quartzite west of Clare, and deeply weathered Torrensian quartzite and shale east of Mintaro.
