Boring has intersected basal Tertiary North Maslin Sands under Tortachilla Limestone. The age of the underlying clays is tentatively regarded as Permian. An estimated 60 000 cubic yards of overburden covers 220 000 cubic yards of sand within the western paddock. Total reserves within section 133 are slightly greater. The untreated sand is finer and more clayey than specified for building purposes.
