The site of a proposed grain storage silo in the railway yards at Naracoorte was tested by five cable tool holes each 27.43m deep. The drilling revealed a consistent sequence fill and flat-lying Quaternary sands and clays over Tertiary Gambier Limestone. Water was cut at three horizons, the shallowest at approximately 6m. Several possible bearing horizons for the structure are suggested.
