A gravity trough extending southerly from Lake Torrens suggests a possible subsurface escape route for brines from Lake Torrens. It is recommended that this gravity trough be drilled, however this recommendation may be modified by later seismic refraction results. A major lineament possibly defining the eastern edge of the Stuart Stable Shelf lies approximately 12 miles west of Lake Torrens.
