Upper Eocene microfloral assemblages from the Blanche Point Marls of the Adelaide Plains Basin in the vicinity of Victoria Square, Adelaide, have been used to show that the sequence obtained from recent drilling is entirely of marine or restricted marine environment. The relative abundance of microplankton, pollens and spores indicates that two distinct environments - a shallow near shore and a deeper water facies are present, and correspond with significant lithological changes.
