Eleven Gemco Auger drillholes were put down on the site for Barnes and Associates, Consulting Structural Engineers of Hutt Stree Adelaide. A total of 201 feet was drilled, the minimum depth being 9 feet in drillhole No. 10 and the maximum depth 41 feet in drillhole No. 1. The main purpose of the programme was to determine the depth and distribution of suspected fill material used to reclaim an old pug hole on the north eastern end of the site. Six holes were drilled for this purpose, the remainder to test the fine grained alluvial deposits present on the undisturbed portion of the proposed foundation area. All holes were geologically legged on the site on the basis of the Unified Soils Classification Chart of the United States Bureau of Reclamation.
