Quarrying of marginal zones of low grade marble contaminated by silicate minerals has caused a decline in the quality of stone produced at Penrice. The extent of these zones has been indicated following a re-interpretation of the original quarry drilling programme. Three diamond drill holes have been drilled and the core analysed, to provide a guide to stone quality for the immediate future.
