Light No. 1 was drilled on shot point E126 subsequent to the Middle Beach Seismograph Survey. The purpose of the well was primarily to determine the depth to basement, to assist the correlation of seismograph records, and to further stratigraphic records within the Adelaide Plains area. Two distinct water - bearing zones were encountered in the well. The producing intervals were from 194 to 225 feet (Dry Creek Sands) and 535 to 545 feet, a sand sequence within the Blanche Point Marls. Water from these zones rose to static levels of 11 feet and 15 feet respectively from the surface. No significant amount of hydrocarbons were detected. The well was plugged and abandoned.
